Noel Coward might have described Norfolk as ‘very flat’ but the county’s stunning coastline and miles of outstanding natural beauty make up for the lack of hills.  Relaxing in Norfolk is easy, if not compulsory, but if you want to be a little more active there’s plenty to do. Here are some suggestions:

Within Walking Distance of the Captain's House:

  • Watch the crab fishing boats set out at dawn and return with their catches at breakfast
  • Stroll down Cromer Pier which offers beautiful views as well as a chance to catch something fishy; or take in a show
  • Walk along the beach or follow the famous routes that the Norfolk wool traders used in years gone by
  • Swim just outside the Captain's House, weather permitting
  • Visit the local history museum, displayed in a fisherman's cottage; and the Lifeboat Museum.
  • Play golf at the Royal Cromer Club, an 18-hole course
  • Catch a movie at the 4 screen cinema

A Short Drive Away:

  • National Trust’s Felbrigg and Blickling
  • Steam railway at Sheringham  to visit Georgian Holt
  • More golf at the 18-hole course at Sheringham or 9-hole course at       West Runton
  • Blakeney point to see the seals
  • Holkham Hall
  • Walsingham
